Free airport Wi-Fi from Skype

Merry Christmas, air travelers! Starting today, Skype is setting out to make travel a little more pleasant this holiday season by offering one hour of free Wi-Fi at more than 50 airports across the United States, including LaGuardia, JFK and Newark Liberty.

From December 21 through December 27, travelers will be able to access third-party hotspots using Skype Wi-Fi and connect with loved ones via a Skype video or voice call for free.

Skype Wi-Fi is available to travelers on PCs, Macs and iOS devices. To get started, make sure you've downloaded the latest version of Skype for Windows, Skype for Mac or Skype Wi-Fi app. Sign in with a valid Skype ID, and then check your wireless network connection to see if you're in a supported hotspot.

Free Fries Friday at Burger King

Fast food giant Burger King is introducing its new recipe for thick-cut French fries on Friday, and you can try them for free all day today.

The new fries feature a thicker cut potato and feature 20 percent less sodium. They are cooked in trans-fat free vegetable oil.

To get in on the fry-for-all, visit a participating location and pick up a value-sized fries on the house. No purchase is necessary.

National Cupcake Day

Thursday, December 15 is National Cupcake Day, and several businesses are offering freebies to celebrate.

Marble Slabs (one location in Lindenhurst, Long Island) and MaggieMoos (locations throughout New Jersey and one in Queens) are giving away a free ice cream cupcake to all customers between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at participating locations.

Friday Freebies for Veterans

Today is Veterans Day, and many businesses are giving back to show their appreciation for our current and former military service members.

Applebee's, Chili's, Golden Corral and Hooters are all offering a free meal to military veterans and active-duty service members. Krispy Kreme is offering a free doughnut. Outback Steakhouse is honoring America's military vets by offering a free Bloomin' Onion and a Coca-Cola product.

Subway is offering a free 6-inch sub, while T.G.I. Friday's has a buy-one-get-one-free deal. Current and retired servicemen and women will get a free entrée at The Olive Garden, and Home Depot and Lowes are offering a 10 percent discount.

7-Eleven is saluting active, veteran and retired military personnel and their families with a free small Slurpee between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

National Parks will have no entrance fee for veterans this weekend, and many amusement parks are also offering free admission to military personnel.

National Mammography Day

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the National Cancer Institute recommends annual mammograms for all women over 40. October 21 is National Mammography Day, and many clinics and doctors' offices nationwide are offering free or reduced price mammograms today.

Sponsored by National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is celebrating 25 years of service, National Mammography Day seeks to encourage millions of women to receive a mammogram and become empowered in the fight against breast cancer.

Mammogram facilities that would normally charge full price will provide free or low-cost exams to women today, and some will extend the free test to other days.
