It's two days after the big game, and several topics are still trending, though the New York Giants are not really up there. "Canyon of Heroes" is climbing the New York area Twitter ranks, but it's still behind "Yankee Stadium" after it was announced the halftime headliner Madonna will perform a concert there in September. The event might be seven months away, but tickets go on sale next Monday at LiveNation.com.
Gisele Bundchen continues grab headlines around the web after her controversial comments about her husband's performance in the Super Bowl. In case you missed it, Gisele was leaving the game when some Giants fan hecklers yelled to her that Eli Manning owns Tom Brady. She responded by telling a friend that "my husband cannot (expletive) throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time." Of course, in this day and age, it was caught on a cell phone camera and is drawing a wide variety of reactions.
Some buzz around the web talks about her throwing the Patriots' wide receivers under the bus and blaming them for the loss. Others say she was just defending her husband. There's also discussion of her violating team code that spouses keep a low-profile after a loss. Either way, it's something people continue to talk about.
Super Bowl commercials continue to be a top trend as people look for favorites in what was generally considered a pretty weak crop. Wes Welker is also in the headlines over his dropped pass that many consider cost the Patriots the game. The discussion revolves around whether the blame lies with Welker for the drop or Brady for a less than perfect, but still very catchable, throw.
Next, "Extra" host Maria Menounos' bikini bet is also a top trend on Yahoo and Google. She was so sure her beloved Patriots would win the Super Bowl that she bet colleague A.J. Calloway that if they didn't, she'd host the show in a bikini. She made good on it, too.
Just gaining traction this morning is video and pictures of Rob Gronkowski that are just surfacing of the Pats' tight end dancing the night away after the Super Bowl loss. Gronk and Matt Light also removed their shirts during the set by LMFAO. Many Bostonians are irked by the video and think the 22-year-old record-breaking receiver should've been more upset after the loss. Others say he was just cutting loose after the long season. All that you can tell for sure from the video is that his injured ankle is apparently fine.
Finally, we have another Jimmy Kimmel challenge picking up steam on YouTube. The ABC late-night host told viewers to upload videos of them unplugging the TV in a crowded room during crucial moments of the Super Bowl. You can imagine the reactions. Lots of screaming. And bleeping. Enjoy.
In non-Super Bowl related trends, Randy Travis is a top search after he was arrested for public intoxication in Texas. Denton County sheriff's spokesman Tom Reedy says police in the town of Sanger arrested Travis early Monday after spotting a vehicle parked in front of a church and finding an open bottle of wine and Travis smelling of alcohol.
Lastly, the woman linked to best actor frontrunner George Clooney partied it up in Vegas over the weekend, landing her atop Google and Yahoo searches. Former WWE diva Stacy Keibler hosted a pre-Super Bowl bash and then hit the town in a night filled with booze and dancing. The real question on everyone’s mind is if Clooney was with her or not.
