Don Cornelius, Romney's misquote and Pink Slime

Good morning!

Don Cornelius and Soul Train are shooting up the trending charts this morning after the creator and host of the long-running TV dance show shot himself to death Wednesday morning at his Los Angeles home, police said. He was 75.

Officers responding to a report of a shooting found Cornelius at his Mulholland Drive home at around 4 a.m., police said. He was pronounced dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at 4:56 a.m. at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

"Soul Train" began in 1970 in Chicago on WCIU-TV as a local program and aired nationally from 1971 to 2006. It introduced television audiences to such legendary artists as Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and Barry White and brought the best R&B, soul and later hip-hop acts to TV and had teenagers dance to them. It was one of the first shows to showcase African-Americans prominently, although the dance group was racially mixed. Cornelius, who stepped down as host in 1993, was also the executive producer.

Florida Primary Results is the top search on Google after Mitt Romney, as expected, won the state to regain momentum in the Republican race for president. Romney is also getting some attention for a quote taken out of context. The internet is abuzz after the former governor said, "I'm not concerned about the very poor." But the full quote was this: "I'm not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there. If it needs repair, I'll fix it. I'm not concerned about the very rich. They're doing just fine. I'm concerned about the very heart of America, the 90-95 percent of Americans who are struggling."

McDonald's Pink Slime is the top trend on Yahoo after the fast-food chain announced it is removing the substance from its burgers. The term Pink Slime refers to beef trimmings treated with ammonium-hydroxide to kill bacteria. The filler has been deemed safe by the USDA, but celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and other critics say the chemical treatment is used on questionable cuts of mystery meat not fit for humans. McDonald's says its decision to drop the additive is not based on any particular event.

Sofia Vergara and Kate Upton are trending after they were named Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, on AskMen.com's annual "Most Desirable Women" list.

One man's tribute to Phantom of the Opera is one of the top gainers in views on YouTube. Nick Pitera, an Andrew Lloyd Webber fan and YouTube Medley-ist, recorded a one-man version of the hit musical.

OK Go! has recorded a new video for Sesame Street about the primary colors. Check out the colorful stop-motion piece.

Finally, we have trademarks from a 5-year-old. The young daughter of a designer analyzes famous logos in the way only a child can.

That's the Trend!
