People's Choice, Khloe Kardashian and No Pants Subway

Katy Perry and Harry Potter ruled the People's Choice Awards.   The Hollywood awards season kicked off with Perry winning five awards, including best female artist and favorite song for E.T.   She did not attend the awards, pulling out after the break-up of her marriage to Russell Brand.   Meanwhile, the last installment of Harry Potter garnered four honors, including Best Movie.  The People's Choice is the earliest of the awards shows, but offers little insight into who might win the Grammys or the Oscars.   The people choose these winners.   The movie and music industry choose the others.  You can find a full list of winners at OnTheRedCarpet.com.

Halle Berry is making waves because after saying she would never get married again, she's getting married again.   Various reports say Berry, 45, is engaged to French actor Olivier Martinez.  He apparently proposed with an emerald-and-diamond ring from Gurhan over the holidays.  The couple met while working on the film Dark Tide.  Berry has been married twice before to baseball player David Justice and singer Eric Benet.   She also has a 3-year-old daughter with former boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.   Martinez, 46, dated Australian pop star Kylie Minogue for several years before splitting in 2007.

Is Khloe really a Kardashian?  That is the burning question on many minds after a story that reads like the script of a bad soap opera, only it’s real life.

The question stems from an article in Star magazine, which quotes two of Robert Kardashian's former wives saying Khloe is not really a Kardashian.   Jan Ashley, who married Kardashian after his divorce from Kris Jenner, and Ellen Kardashian, who married him two months before his death, reportedly received a hefty sum for the story.    It sparked outrage and denials from the other Kardashians.   RadarOnline.com reports Kim Kardashian blasted the story over lunch with a group of Hollywood pals. Khloe herself jumped on Twitter: “The audacity you have to mention my father’s name like this. Should be ashamed of urself [sic]. … I let a lot of things slide but this one is really low. YOU ARE DISGUSTING.”   Adding fuel to the story is a new book by Kris Jenner in which she admits being unfaithful to Kardashian during their 12 year marriage….   Where's the aspirin?

Girl Scout Cookies have been trending all month as they go on sale, but today the trend appears to be fueled by a California teen and former Girl Scout who is calling for a boycott of the famed cookies.   In a video posted on YouTube, Taylor from Ventura County says she calling for the nationwide boycott to protest the organization’s decision to admit a seven-year-old transgender child to a Colorado troop.

The Girl Scouts of Colorado has said that the transgender seven-year-old was admitted in October on the basis of gender identification.

One of the hot stories coming out of the Consumer Electronics Show is the new Wii U game console.   The controller has a big, touch-enabled screen.

Wii U will work with the stick-like controllers, Nintendo says, allowing for multi-player games.  The touch-enabled screen can also be used in other ways.   In one demo, Nintendo placed the Wii U controller on the floor for a golf game. The screen of the controller shows a teed-up golf ball, then the player used the traditional remote to swing the golf club.  Wii U will be sold as a bundle, but it's not priced yet.   Could be expensive since touch screens are generally expensive.

Two stories buzzing on Twitter…. For the first time in almost half a century, homicide has fallen off the list of the nation’s top 15 causes of death, bumped by a lung illness that often develops in elderly people who have choked on their food…. And Warren Buffett is challenging Republicans in Congress to help pay down the national debt.  He has pledged to match dollar for dollar all such voluntary contributions.  The story comes from Time Magazine.

The scorching video on YouTube this morning is an embarrassing mistake by a soccer goalkeeper.   The video has more than 2 million views since being posted on Tuesday.

Another sports highlight racking up the views comes from the high school ranks where a player made an incredible behind the backboard shot to win the game as time ran out.

This next one features an awesome solo by a young drummer, but what happens after the solo made this video go viral.  Warning: It's GROSS!

From the Taipei Grand Hotel comes a reporter's demonstration of an escape slide, but she apparently did not expect it to be so steep and long.

And finally, from the folks at Improv Everywhere comes riding the subway without pants 2012.

That's the trend!

Keep your pants on and have a great day,
