Advantages and hassles of hosting an Olympics

What advantages and hassles would there be if the Olympics were held in the Tri-State area?  Would it be worth it?  Eyewitness News wants to know what you think. Post your comments (below) and they could appear on Eyewitness News.

So glad we didn't get the games! Apart from the fuss and commotion it would have brought to the Big Apple, as I native New Yorker I'm sorry to admit that we just don't have the ability to complete the necessary capital projects they way they do in London.

New York City is already over populated as it is. Having a major event like the Olympics will only cause serious congestion, traffic problems and aggravation for mass transit commuters. I'd say it would be a bad idea.

Personal i would love to have the summer games in nys. It will bring jobs into the tri-state area. And would bring millions of dollars to our state. Only disadvantage would be the extremely tight security(i do not mind that) and that transportation would be a nightmare for the two wks the games would be here.Another upside is that the people who would attend the games would come back to NY in the future probally with there families. So all is good with the games being in the number one state in the country,NY never sleeps...

The advantage would be the revenue. That is about it. The traffic, congestion, street closures, etc. would not be worth it.

Traffic jams, intense security checks into city and further violations of civil liberties by police, hotels overbooked, increased air traffic at all three area airports.

It would be a huge boost to the economy of the city, because there would be a lot of tourists that would visit the city that would love to shop. Also plenty of jobs would be available for people who do not have one. So I think that it would be a good thing for New York to host the Olympics. Lets give 2020 a try.
