Dharun Ravi sentence
Was the sentence given to Dharun Ravi in the Rutgers spying case fair or too lenient? Ravi was sentenced to 30 days in prison (could serve less for good behavior), in a case that gained national attention after the death of Tyler Clementi. Eyewitness News wants to know what you think. Post your comments (below) and they could appear on Eyewitness News.

I feel 30 days certainly is not enough for distroying someone's life and family, due to a STUPID thing that he did! he should suffer big time for his actions.

The sentence is fair. If Clementi did not kill himself this case would not be in the courts. He had to be ashamed of his actions, or very depressed that his male lover was not comming back.

because of him one life was taken away. i don't mean many many many years but there must be a lesson learned. one month is not enough for one life. if you are the parents of clementi how would you feel?

I would have preferred to have Ravi (and others who do such mindless act) be drafted into the Army and sent to the front line for a period of time. This is the only way they will learn responsibility.

The sentence is overall fair. Dharun Ravi wasn't biased he just pulled a prank that went out of control. The outcome (Tyler's death), was out of his hands and there was nothing he could do.

i feel that what he did should deserve a punishment since there was no remorse from him when he thought he had a right 2 do what he did 30 days - 20 days doesn't teach him or send the right message

Yes of course it was lenient,,, He showed no remorse or sorrow until his mother spoke. THEN HE CRIED!!!He definitly shoudl have gotten more time. Tyler wouldnt have committed suicide if this didn't happen. FAR TOO LENIENT!!

Tyler would not have killed himself if Ravi did not do what he did. 30 days, I don't think so his punishment does not fit the crime. It's sending a very bag message to others who think they can get away with the same crime.

No charges should have been brought. Prosecuters severly over reached.

No,I think it's fair, this was a stupid kid who did a stupid thing, sadly though, it makes you wonder what else Tyler Clementi struggled with that he thought suicide was the only option. Sad case all around.

This case should have never been before the court and any jail time is inappropriate. The only person responsible for the death of Tyler Clementi was Tyler Clementi.

While I don't believe Dharun should have received the maximum amount of jail time, he does deserve more than 30 days. That short time does not relay the severity of the matter nor does it let everyone know that a bias crime is a serious matter.
