Armed cab drivers

Should cab drivers be armed?  A group is proposing livery cab drivers be armed with licensed handguns to protect against irate passengers.  Eyewitness News wants to know what you think.  Post your comments (below) and they could appear on Eyewitness News First at 4 p.m.

There are too many crazies out there for this to be allowed. It's hard to trust anyone anymore and inforcing this can put people in danger.

I don't think they should be armed because that would just cause more trouble. Also some cabs drivers need a job that doesn't take much education, but if there were guns used by cab drivers as protection they would need to be much more educated.

I feel taxi drivers should be allowed to carry guns, providing they undergo more advanced firearms classes to insure they can safely handle the weapon and the responsibility that comes with them.

I don't think they should be armed because that would just cause more trouble.

i would say not a gun, but maybe a bebe gun or even a tazer just so protection because never what these crazy people may have in mind.

They should not be armed because they are not police officers and they can get into an argument with passengers and pull out the gun for no reason.

Absolutely not! Let them spend the money to put in bullet proof partitions. It’s a business expense that they can write-off on their taxes – oh yeah, that assumes they declare their income. Bloomberg should make it a law that every commercially used vehicle has to have a bullet proof partition, or be fine $100 per day.

Putting guns in the hands of untrained people will only lead to more tragedies. Money is better spent putting in protective shields and cameras.
