Too young to model?

A 10-year-old girl recently posed as a model for French Vogue magazine.  Eyewitness News wants to know what you think.  What’s the appropriate age to have your child model?  Post your comments (below) and they could appear on Eyewitness News First at 4 p.m.

This is in Paris. I don't know what the norm is in Paris. I say take a good look at little kids in beauty pagents in this country.
How about letting a little kid,be a little kid??
I don't understand what the point of all this is?Money? For who?

child modeling is fine
but must be age appropriate
I agree with this previous comment but it is up to the parent to make sure the ad and the child match and not just let the agency twist the arm of the parent and money shouldn't play a big part in the parents mind it should be the child
I have a young child and i think that is what she should do at this age not be a model but that is just my personal opinion

As a mother of a child model, I am always vigilant as to what my daughters are modeling for. I do not like makeup on them unless it is for camera ready use. Any extra makeup is not necessary depending on the campaign. As long as my daughters look like children-being-children, I am supportive. I don't want them looking older than they are especially in this society. Most times, the outcome is the vision of the director of the shoot and it can be something so innocent taken the wrong way.

ten yr olds shouldnt be dressed up like twenty yr olds

I feel that it's not the child's age that should be in question, it's the type of modeling the child does. Children model at all ages, for catalogs, commercials, etc., it is up to the parents to make sure that the modeling jobs are age appropiate. Children grow up way too fast today and should remain innocent for as long as possible.

I am a fashion show producer/casting director as well as for many print jobs for 15 years. I think it is horrible that they are using a 10 year old in French Vogue. If she was dressed as a ten yr old then fine but to dress her as an adult and have her photographed in a seductive way is robbing the poor girl of her childhood. I understand the idea of "art" but this is not it! Of course French Vogue is trying to be shocking and to get press but this is a horrible way to do it. I cast models everyday for fashion projects and would never allow something like this. It is also an insult to women in general. It gives the idea of no matter what education you have or what u have achived in work the world none of that matters if your not young.

I think the appropiate for a girl to model is at age 18 when she understands what is going on.If she models at age 8 she will think its okay to expose her body at an early age.

The clothes don't even fit on them, the girls are so small. Just wondering when some sicko will start putting lipstick on embryos

Age for modeling should be determined on what is being modeled. If it is a child's back to school outfit, or a baby outfit, then age appropriate models should be used. Those sultry looks and sexy poses in sexy outfits? At least 18, if not 21, should be the minimum age limit. I am sure there must be a 25 year old that can do the job just as well. It is appalling that a parent would allow their 10 year old to model in such positions and ways. They are only looking/asking for trouble. Let kids be kids, they grow up way to fast to start with.
