Trio Dances a Bit Strange, but Other Dances Honored Service Members

The DWTS open was messed up and after five minutes of commercials, they introduced the stars and the show got started.

Shawnderek1
The first round of dances paid tribute to the service members of America in honor of Veteran’s Day.  Shawn and Derek were up first with their Viennese Waltz.  It was really beautiful and full of amazing extensions.  They were so graceful on the dance floor and the crowd went wild at the end of their dance.  Len said that it was quiet, gentle, and poignant, but he would have liked a little more in hold.  Bruno called the dance heavenly perfection.  Carrie Ann said that she felt the chills!  She thought the dance was amazing.

Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 9.5, and Bruno – 10, for a total of 29.5 out of 30.

Apolokarina2
Apolo and Karina were up next with their Tango.  Apolo began the dance by zip lining into the ballroom!  They had a lot of attack in this Tango!  It was really amazing!  I got nervous when they were climbing the stairs together because I saw her dress come very close to being caught under his foot!  It was really perfect though!  Bruno said it had maximum firepower and he was like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible.  Carrie Ann said that she loved it and thought it was fantastic and he had ridiculous lines!  Len said that he’s his hero and that it was full on attack and it was great.

Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 9.5, and Bruno – 10, for a total of 29.5 out of 30.

Kirstiemaks3
Kirstie and Maks were hoping to do better after their terrible Samba last week with their Viennese Waltz this week.  It had a very elegant start and it got even better from there.  They were so graceful!  The spins were perfection and they really seemed like they were in love.  I think this is one of the best dances she has ever done!  Carrie Ann said that the interpretation was beautiful and that it was one of her best dances. She said she would like to see a little more difficulty though.  Len said it was her best dance and well done!  Bruno said that she maintained the lines well and it was well danced and well done.

Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9, and Bruno – 9, for a total of 27 out of 30.

Kellyval4
Kelly and Val danced the Viennese Waltz.  It seemed a little jerky and fast for this dance. I don’t know if they were trying to get in the most dancing they could in a short amount of time or something, but it was a little weird.  Technically it looked good though.  Len said that it was a little too sharp on occasions.  Bruno said they were in and out of beautiful shapes with ease.  Carrie Ann said it was beautiful and lyrical though.

Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 9.5, Len – 9, and Bruno – 9.5, for a total of 28 out of 30.

Gillespeta5
Gilles and Peta were up next with their Quick Step.  This was such an exciting Quick Step!  They danced to “Danger Zone”!  It was a great tribute to the service members that were in the audience and watching from home. I loved it!  Bruno said that they came out like an F18 and that the part in the middle was absolutely perfect.  Carrie Ann said it was so close but there were a few little foot things that she saw, the crowd went crazy booing.  Len said it was thunder and lightning!

Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 9.5, Len – 10, and Bruno – 10, for a total of 29.5 out of 30.

Emmittcheryl6
Emmitt and Cheryl followed with their Viennese Waltz.  They looked elegant and fabulous right off the top.  The hold was strong yet smooth.  Their footwork looked complicated yet not so much that it was distracting.  It was like watching an old time movie!  Carrie Ann thought that he was riding in a comfort zone!  I disagree!  Len said that he puts the “oo” in smooth!  He said he would have liked a little more fluidity.  Bruno said that it had a very classic feel but there was a little stumble.

Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9.5, and Bruno – 9.5, for a total of 28 out of 30.

Melissatony7
Melissa and Tony were up next with their Quick Step!  It had lots of flounce and energy!  It was exactly what you would want the Quick Step to be!  They must have rehearsed their pants off with this dance!  The audience was up on their feet and applauding!  Len loved it and called it the bees’ knees!  Bruno said it was amazing and as good as the best that America has ever produced!  Carrie Ann said that they were on a roll and on fire!  I smell some 10’s!

Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 10, and Bruno – 10, for a perfect 30!  Yay!

Trio1
Shawn, Derek, and Mark were up first with their Trio Samba.  It started off all tribal and I loved how they worked in each of them dancing with her.  They even did holds with all three of them!  It was amazing!  Len thought that there wasn’t enough Samba and found the dance self indulgent!  Yikes!  Bruno loved it!  He said as art it was fantastic but he also noted that there wasn’t a lot of Samba.  Carrie Ann loved the dance!

Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 7, and Bruno – 9, for a 26 out of 30.  Wow Len!

Trio2
Apolo, Karina, and Sasha danced the Jive as a trio.  They danced to “Greased Lightning”!  OK, on second thought, I kind of hate these trios.  They can’t really do a proper ballroom dance like this!  I mean, for them to be any good they need to be more like what Shawn, Derek and Mark did and Len hated that.  I’m sure he’ll love this because I saw a lot of Jive.  Bruno thought Apolo did great mirroring a pro and said it was like watching twins!  Carrie Ann said that there was one kick mishap but it was one of his best performances.  Len said it was sharp, tight and together and he said that’s what you want with a Jive.

Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 9.5, Len – 9.5, and Bruno – 10, for a total of 28 out of 30.

Trio3
Kirstie, Maks and Tristan danced the Paso Doble.  The dance seemed a little fast for Kirstie as it seemed like they were dragging her around!  It was pretty good though and interesting to see the three of them dance together.  Carrie Ann said that she loved the theme, costumes and the dance but she thought it looked sloppy.  Len said it had attitude but was lacking some finesse.  Bruno said it was like watching “The Valley of the Dolls” but as a Paso Doble it could have been more refined.

Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 8, and Bruno – 8, for a total of 24 out of 30.  Pity 8’s!

Trio4
Kelly, Val, and Louis danced a trio Jive.  It was crisp and really amazing how they switched partners!  They didn’t miss a beat anywhere!  There was even a kiss between Kelly and Val and then at the end between Kelly and Len!  I love, love, loved this dance!  It had the F factor Len said!  Flamboyant, fabulous and a bunch of other positive F words.  Bruno said she did great!  Carrie Ann said that it seamless and amazing but she could have pointed her toes just a little more.

Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 9.5, Len – 9.5, and Bruno 9.5, for a total of 28.5 out of 30.

Trio5
Gilles, Peta, and Chelsie danced a trio Salsa!  Gilles and his ladies!  It was like watching an amazing ladies man at a Salsa club or something.  The transitions between the ladies were really great!  It doesn’t hurt having two ladies that are both pros dancing around you to make you look fabulous!  Bruno said he managed his manage a trios really well but he did lose timing a little bit.  Carrie Ann agreed that his musicality was a little off but she loved how he took control of the dance.  Len said that he thought he exposed himself and didn’t hide behind his two dancers and it was full on.

Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 9.5, Len – 10, and Bruno 9.5, for a total of 29 out of 30.

Trio6
Cheryl, Emmitt, and Kym danced the Salsa.  He did an amazing job twirling them!  It was really fun to watch but it was kind of slow.  I think he could have done more with this dance for sure.  Carrie Ann thought he was amazing and thought he could handle his women.  Len said it was like working two yo-yo’s at once and loved it as well.  Bruno said that it looked natural.  Wow, guess I was the only one that wasn’t that impressed.

Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 10, and Bruno – 10, for a perfect 30!

Trio7
Finally, Melissa, Tony, and Henry danced a Paso Doble.  It was a dance full of fire and passion.  Melissa even did some weird yelling!  Ha!  She is a wonderful dancer though, there is no denying that.  Len said that she was seamless between the two dancers.  Len also said that out of everyone she impresses him the most!  Bruno said that she was flamboyantly fabulous!  Carrie Ann said that she loved seeing her so in control out there.

Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 10, and Bruno – 10, another perfect 30!

Tuesday night, it’s a double elimination!  Next week, the couples will dance to songs off Michael Jackson’s “Bad” album.
