Finale Performances Don't Disappoint on 'Dancing With the Stars: All Stars'
It’s finally here, the big finale of “Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars”.
Kelly & Val are the only couple in the final three who have yet to get a 10. We’ll see if they can change that tonight! They danced their passionate Paso Doble from earlier this season. They of course kicked it up a notch! They were so crisp and had their eyes locked on each other the entire time. Their spins were just dizzyingly great! Len said that it was their best dance to date back on week three and he still thinks it is at week 10! Bruno called her a fire angel and said that they ignited drama and had a lot of artistry and polish. Carrie Ann said she was very proud of her but did call them up for a little slip up. I wasn’t sure if it was a mistake at first, but on the replay you saw her take an extra step and look a teensy bit lost at first.
Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 9.5, Len – 10, and Bruno – 10, for a total of 29.5 out of 30. I think the other judges should have deducted a tiny bit for the mistake as well just to be fair, but oh well!
Melissa & Tony decided to do their week three dance as well. They had gotten 9’s last time around with their Samba and this time they want 10’s! I thought the beginning was a little slow, but once they got going, there was no stopping their hips! The crowd went wild at the conclusion of their dance! It had a lot of great energy, but this is just to me, it seemed a bit frenzied at times. Bruno said that it was a wonderful blend of moves and he really liked to see her confidence. Carrie Ann said that her abs are ridiculous! She also loved her solo! Len said that she was a carnival queen and had great technique and it was fabulous! Yay!
Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 10, and Bruno – 10, for a perfect 30 out of 30!
Derek & Shawn danced their Quick Step. It was very memorable and started the same with Shawn’s flip right at the start. I love the fun in this dance! It’s full out of bounce and flounce. They didn’t miss a beat. He threw her around and tossed her around and each time she did another fun kick, flick or flip! I will say that it was more fun to watch the first time because you didn’t know what to expect. This time we knew they were going to fall from the stairs on to a mat below. Carrie Ann said it was a fantastic routine and said that she’s mad they didn’t follow the rules with the dance because she must deduct points. Len said he did like that there was more body contact, but they did break contact and do lifts which are not allowed. Bruno said they’ve been taking risks all season but said never the less what they have accomplished is amazing but they are bound by the rules.
Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 8.5, and Bruno – 9.5, for a total of 27 out of 30. Yikes that’s low. I hope this dance didn’t blow their chances at the Mirror Ball Trophy!
Now it’s time for the best part of the season in my opinion…FREESTYLE dances! Kelly & Val danced to “I Had the Time of My Life” from “Dirty Dancing”! I hope they do the signature move! It started with Kelly swinging from the ceiling and doing some aerial work as Val serenades her with a violin. I loved how they mixed in moves from the movie along with some more complicated and different choreography. There was the troupe dancing around them and a chorus in the background as well. She did the signature jump, but then the music ended abruptly so it was a little weird! I did like it and would give it a 10! Len called the dance “spellbinding” but said that it lacked a little originality. Bruno said that Patrick was smiling down on them and it was wonderful! Carrie Ann said that we’ve watched them grow as a couple and said that she didn’t know if they were a real couple but she loved that it ended with a happy ending.
Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 9.5, and Bruno – 10, for a 29.5 out of 30 and a combined 59 out of 60.
Melissa & Tony had a smoky lyrical start to their Freestyle. It was like watching ballet and ice skating without the ice. The troupe were dangling from cubes and spinning. It was a very different type of freestyle. Most couples go for upbeat but it was really great to see the skills they put forth in this dance. The lifts were fantastic. Bruno said it was a perfect dance to show off her extensions, lines and musicality. Carrie Ann said she took a lot of huge risks and said they would pay off, jackpot! Len said it had passion and was wonderful! It really put him at a loss for words! I think they would give them 11’s if they could!
Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 10, and Bruno – 10, for a total of 30 out of 30 and a combined total of 60 out of 60! Len also stole my line about wishing he had an 11!
Finally, Shawn & Derek were up with their Freestyle with the U.S. women’s gymnastics team! It was like watching some amazing feats of strength! She danced with her ladies gymnastics team first and then she and Derek did a lot of dancing out of hold again, because it seems like they are more comfortable like that. They did a lot of flips and it was like watching real acrobats at a circus. It was a fun dance, but we’ll see what the judges have to say about it. Carrie Ann loved it and called it sensational. Len said that it was a medley of Derek and Shawn’s greatest hits and called it a gold medal performance. Bruno said it was explosive brilliance. The judges loved it!
Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 10, and Bruno – 10, for a perfect 30 out of 30 and a combined 57 out of 60.
Tomorrow night, the couples will dance their instant dances to complete their judges’ scores which account for half of their overall score. Viewer votes count for the other half, so make sure you vote for your favorite couple! The big results finale is two hours and starts Tuesday night at 9 p.m. on ABC!
