The Final Four Compete in the Semifinals on 'Dancing With the Stars'!
It’s time for the final four in the semifinals tonight! The final three will get to dance their Freestyle dance next week so the stakes are high as everyone loves to show off with that very popular segment. I have to say that the final for left are really the crème of the crop this year. They are all fantastic dancers and it seems that it will be tough work for the judges tonight. There was an incident with Katherine Jenkins, but we’ll get to that later.
Tonight, the semifinals kicked off with William and Cheryl and their Tango. I love their intensity it’s always top notch. The camera really did a great job of following their intricate footwork tonight. He really took control of the dance and led Cheryl across the dance floor and the crowd responded! It was a fantastic job overall, but I wonder if he seemed just a tad stiff during the dance. Len said that overall it was terrific, and said that he would have liked a slightly tighter hold though and he seemed a little flat footed at times. Bruno said he was full of animal magnetism and that he was like the dictator of the Tango! Carrie Ann said that his lines and angles were gorgeous, and then she picked on his shimmies and one over-rotation on the drop. I’m sure no one in the audience or at home for that matter really picked up on those subtleties.
Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9, and Bruno – 10, for a total of 28 out of 30. That’s a great way to start the night!
Next up were Katherine and Mark with their Quick Step. They always shine with these fast numbers so I’m expecting a lot here! Wow, she really got the pacing down pat. Every foot movement seemed perfect! She’s also such a great performer and knows how to charm the crowd. I really don’t know what the judges could find to pick on with this dance. The crowd was up on their feet to applaud at the end. Bruno said it was outstanding and a picture perfect rendition of the razzle dazzle of the roaring 20’s. Carrie Ann said that they brought their A+ game and it may have been the best dance she has EVER seen on “Dancing with the Stars”! Len said that she cannot only sing but she can dance as well. He said that overall it was a fabulous number.
Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 9, and Bruno – 10, for a total of 29 out of 30. I’m really surprised that they didn’t get a perfect score with that dance.
Donald and Peta danced the Waltz as their first of two dances. It was so lyrical and beautiful! I wasn’t quite expecting such grace from Donald! You couldn’t take your eyes off of them, it really was gorgeous. I thought they did a great job of portraying a couple in love! The crowd was again on their feet. I really liked how they broke out the smoke machine. Carrie Ann said that it was so emotional and she was brought into the love story. She added that there were a few times that he had a couple little missteps. Len said that it was absolutely charming, but that for some reason he didn’t keep his head to the left, he looked at Peta! Bruno said that he impressed everyone with a caring, gentle Waltz and extended his lines better than ever.
Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9, and Bruno – 10, for a total of 28 out of 30. I’m surprised that Bruno busted out another 10! He’s passing them out like candy tonight!
Maria and Derek hoped to do better after some negative comments on their dances from Len last week. This time they were dancing the Argentine Tango. They did a really cool move right off the top where she wrapped her legs around him as he danced her down the stairs. They really do look and dance fabulous together. It was crisp and clean. The lifts looked a little labored on Derek’s part; maybe because she is just as tall as he is, they seem slightly awkward. They came painfully close to sharing another kiss at the end of that dance! Hmm! Len said that he got caught up in the whole thing! Bruno said it was enticing and titillating and every step had a purpose. Carrie Ann loved it as well. I smell some 10’s! Maria was very overcome by emotion with this dance and was on the verge of tears and could hardly understand what the judges were saying during their critique!
Their Scores: Carrie Ann -10, Len – 10, and Bruno -10, for a total of 30 out of 30! I was surprised! I loved the dance but there was no mention of the lifts.
William and Cheryl were back with dance number two and their steamy Samba. If there was ever a dance to use in a semifinal for William, this is it! He brought his Latin heat to the dance floor and you could hear the women squealing in the audience. Let’s just say he could have made the whole dance butt shakes and there probably would have been no complaints. This dance had great energy and got the crowd going for the second round of dances! Bruno said that it allowed people to savor the flavor of sexy Brazil. Carrie Ann said that he had her at “Hello” and it lived up to every expectation. Len said that he never looked at a man’s bum for so long and he was a hunk with the junk in his trunk. He loved the rhythm that he brought out too. This dance should help boost their score!
Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 10, and Bruno – 10, for a total of 30 out of 30 and a grand total of 58 out of 60 for the night.
Katherine and Mark hoped to keep the energy going with their Salsa. They did a snake charmer, belly dancer theme and it was a little weird for a Salsa, but I guess it worked. The dancing was great as usual, but for some reason I didn’t feel this dance as much as I did their last performance. It was kind of weird. They completely botched the end though. He tried to jump over her and her leg buckled and they both basically fell to the ground. Mark kept telling her he had her and asked her if she was ok and kissed her on the cheek. I think she was more embarrassed than hurt. Carrie Ann said that the dance was fantastic and loved it, and was bummed about the end, but said she was a trooper. Len said that she came out and gave the dance 100%. Bruno said she gave it her all and unleashed the harlot, and added that she shouldn’t worry about what happened at the end. Katherine said that she felt her back go back and added to Mark that she’s sorry if she let him down. Aww!
Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9, and Bruno – 9, for a total of 27 out of 30 and a grand total of 56 out of30. Brooke told Katherine that they would have a doctor come look at her, so I hope everything is ok!
Donald and Peta were up next with their Samba. He had a lot of great crispness in his legs and really brought some “pop” to the Samba. It wasn’t very Latin and they danced the performance to “Mr. Big Stuff” but I thought it was really good! I only saw one missed hand hold towards the end. I really hope for his sake that he will finally get his 10 from Len! But we’ll have to see! Len said it was a little careful but he liked it! Bruno said that he did the dance his way and it worked beautifully! Carrie Ann said that she thought it was “A+ game”.
Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 9, and Bruno – 10, for a total of 29 out of 30 and a grand total of 57 out of 60.
The last dance of the night was by Maria and Derek. In the background video they showed her boyfriend…I wonder how he feels about Derek and all of the kisses! Anyway, Maria and Derek danced their Jive. They were fantastic. The footwork was perfect and I really loved how high they got their knees! They managed to do a sexy and sassy Jive that wasn’t too cutesy. It was fabulous! Bruno said that it was reinvented and he loved the quirky unexpected details. Carrie Ann said that it was another stunner and said that Maria was a winner tonight. Len said that it wasn’t a traditional Jive but it didn’t matter because it worked so well with the music and he liked it!
Their Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 9, and Bruno – 10, for a total of 29 out of 30 and a grand total of 59 out of 60 for the night.
Tuesday night, one couple will be eliminated ahead of the big finale next week!
