Stunning Upset on 'Dancing With the Stars' Semifinals Results Show!

Four fantastic couples were whittled down to three on “Dancing With the Stars”.  The results show kicked off with the judges picking William and Cheryl’s Samba to see again.  They know how to choose a crowd pleaser!  William was back out there shaking it again.

Then, they replayed Katherine’s part of the dance that caused an injury to her lower back apparently.  She said that something twinged in her back and the next thing she knew she fell down.  Fortunately, she will be able to continue on in the competition if America chose to keep her around…and they did!  They are in the finals!  Katherine was overjoyed and she and Mark carried her around on the stage.  Tom Bergeron said, “I’m no doctor but her back looks better now!”

 

In the final "Macy's Stars of Dance" performance this season, “DWTS" pros Chelsie Hightower and Tristan MacManus performed a riveting Samba to "End of Time."  All season long, fans have been voting on the performance song, style, costumes and pro dancers for the season's Macy's Design-a-Dance.  They looked fabulous together!  I’m sure the fans at home who took the time to vote loved watching it!

 

Multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning artist Alanis Morissette then hit the stage with the world premiere performance of her new single, "Guardian”.  It’s from her upcoming album, "Havoc and Bright Lights." Her performance was accompanied by Dance Troupe members Blake McGrath and Tyne Stecklein.  I actually really like the song!  It’s about time Alanis made a comeback!

 

Then, the first place team of Maria and Derek took to the stage to find out if they would be dancing in the finals.  However, just because they scored the top score on Monday night, that wasn’t enough to keep them from being in jeopardy!  The crowd was outraged!

 

Tom Bergeron then announced that there would be an all-star season of “Dancing With the Stars” next fall!  How amazing is that?!  I wish it was going to be made up of all past champions but apparently it will be made up of fan favorites, past winners, and controversial characters. 

 

There was also an incredible performance from the upcoming Warner Bros Pictures feature release, "Rock of Ages." The performance featured two-time former "Dancing with the Stars" champion Julianne Hough and her co-star, actor/singer Diego Boneta.  Mary J. Blige also performed!  "Rock of Ages" hits theaters June 15th.  The movie musical stars Derek’s sister Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Akerman, Mary J. Blige, Bryan Cranston, with Alec Baldwin and Tom Cruise.  That’s some real star power!

 

It was still not time for results, this truly is a show packed FULL of performances.  Country superstar Carrie Underwood took to the stage next to perform "Good Girl”.  It’s the first single off her brand new album, "Blown Away." Her performance was accompanied by Tristan MacManus, Sharna Burgess, Henry Byalikov and Emma Slater.

 

Finally, Donald & Peta and William & Cheryl were on the stage for their results.  William & Cheryl learned the happy news that they would be in the finals!  But, that meant that Donald & Peta were in jeopardy.

 

Maria & Derek and Donald & Peta were the final two couples in jeopardy.  I was pretty certain that Donald & Peta were going to be going home because Derek alone has more star power when it comes to this show.  But, in the end the couple with the lowest combined total of judges’ scores and viewer votes was Derek & Maria!  HOW ON EARTH!?  I was really, really surprised!  They actually had perfect scores last night.  I wonder if it was because people thought that they would be safe and didn’t vote, or if people are just more of a Donald Driver fan and his love of dance.

 

The finals are next week!   You won’t want to miss it starting at 8 p.m. on Monday night on ABC!
