TV Theme for Week 5 of 'Dancing with the Stars'

It's TV time!  It was "TV Theme" week on "Dancing with the Stars".  Each of the stars performed a dance to a television theme song.  This week, there is just one set of judges scores on the overall performance including their technique.

Dancing1
First up were Brandy and Maks.  They danced the Quick Step to the theme song from "Friends", which was "I'll Be There for You".   It started off a little slow in my opinion, but really picked up once they galloped across the dance floor.  There was an amazing dip and some very stunning spins.  Overall, it was very cute and energetic.  The judges and the crowd loved it too.  Len said he was SO impressed with that and he wasn't joking!  He also added that it was her best dance so far.  Bruno said that they did it!  He thought that just when she couldn't possibly keep up the momentum, she pushed through it and danced her heart out.  Carrie Ann said that she and Maks have obviously formed an amazing bond and that they have taken their dancing to a new level now.

Their Scores:  Carrie Ann - 9, Len - 9, and Bruno - 9, for a combined score of 27 out of 30.

Dancing2
Florence and Corky danced to "The Brady Bunch Theme Song".  Honestly, what else could Mrs. Brady dance to?  It would just be weird to associate her with anything else!  They Tangoed to the theme song, which let's face it, was very weird.  I loved that in their rehearsal footage, Barry Williams who played Greg Brady, stopped by.  He laughed that Corky is younger than Bobby Brady!  I thought that their dance started off absolutely lovely!  Florence looked gorgeous in that flowing gold dress...then, things took a turn for the worse.  They started doing all of these weird, jerky movements to the song and it just looked awful to me.  It's unfortunate because I really think Florence could have danced beautifully to this (even though it was to the Brady Bunch theme song).  Bruno agreed with me.  He said that she was good enough to do that dance without all of the comedy and herky jerky movements.  Carrie Ann said that she really liked it, although some of their movements seemed to throw off Florence's timing.  Len said that he thought some parts were excellent and others were just too frantic.

Their Scores:  Carrie Ann - 7, Len - 7, and Bruno - 7, for a combined score of 21 out of 30.

Dancing3
Kurt Warner and Anna were up next with the Quick Step to the "Bewitched" theme song.  The funny thing is, Anna grew up in Russia and does not know the show at all!  However, she can do a PERFECT "Samantha" nose!  The dance was absolutely charming!  She twitched her nose and turned Kurt from a guy who couldn't dance to a Gene Kelly-like dancer.  Kurt looked very debonair.  I thought the little drop at the end was kind of unnecessary to the whole dance.  It ruined their perfect hold at the end for me.  Carrie Ann said that the spirit of Gene Kelly was in his body for that dance and that he made it look easy.  Bruno said that the magic is back and that he likes Kurt when he is "Bewitched".  Len said that the only way they could go was up after last week, and up they went!

Their Scores:  Carrie Ann - 8, Len - 8, and Bruno - 8, for a combined score of 24 out of 30.

Dancing4
Audrina and Tony brought things back into this century with a Rumba to the theme of "The Hills".  The theme of "The Hills" is actually the song "Unwritten" by Natasha Beddingfield.  It was a nice dance, but they seemed a bit off.  There was very little emotion in the dancing and her movements could have been much bigger.  Overall, it seemed very slow.  Len said that he thought it was an excellent Rumba, but that Audrina looked a little intimidated.  Bruno said that they needed more passion.  Carrie Ann said that she has improved leaps and bounds strengthening her lower half, however, everything up above seemed dead.  She also said she noticed a little lift, but Tony yelled NO!  I don't think I saw one either.

Their Scores:  Carrie Ann - 7, Len - 8, and Bruno - 8, for a combined score of 23 out of 30.  Seriously, I couldn’t believe that Carrie Ann gave that dance just a 7!  That's the same score she gave Florence's terrible dance!

Dancing5
Kyle and Lacey were up next with my favorite dance of the night.  They danced the Fox Trot to the "Charlie's Angels" theme song.  Kyle is just so much fun to watch!  You can't take your eyes off of them!  I absolutely loved the disco dancing they mixed into it.  Bruno said that he brought back the feel good factor to the show, but that the Fox Trot was possessed by disco and it was not enough of the Fox Trot.  Carrie Ann said that she disagreed and that she loved the disco.  Len said that it started off good and then got worse and worse.  He said that he thought it was terrible and that he couldn't stand it!  I cannot believe it!  I thought it was fantastic!

Their Scores:  Carrie Ann - 8, Len - 5, and Bruno 7, for a combined score of 20 out of 30.  That 5 from Len was just ridiculous.

Dancing6
Sexy Rick Fox was up next with Cheryl.  They danced the Rumba to the theme from "Hill Street Blues".  I'm not normally a fan of the Rumba, but they made it look good!  They really sparked on the stage and brought some life to this dance which I have come to see as just too slow and not enough action.  Carrie Ann said that it should be a crime that he looks so good and that he can Rumba so well.  Len said that he loved it because there was an ease and elegance to it.  However, he said that he thought there was no developing moment.  Bruno said that in one week he went from Megatron to Mega Smooth!

Their Scores:  Carrie Ann - 8, Len - 8, and Bruno - 8, for a combined score of 24 out of 30.

Dancing7
Bristol and Mark were up next with the Jive to the theme from "The Monkeys".  They took clown lessons together in order to try and get her to loosen up a little.  So, they came out in monkey (gorilla) suits.  Thank goodness they took those off, I was afraid they were going to do the entire dance in those things.  Bristol just had no bounce in her step.  Mark was jumping and dancing all around her while she just kind of tapped her toes every now and then.  It really wasn't good at all.  I think she'll be leaving us tomorrow night.  Len said that he wanted the monkey suits on longer!  He appreciated her efforts at a performance.  Bruno said that they tried to perform more but that she lost her technique.  Carrie Ann said that she was so happy Bristol started to come out of her shell a bit because that was a real transformation.

Their Scores: Carrie Ann - 6, Len - 6, and Bruno - 6, for a combined score of 18 out of 30.  That was the lowest score of the night.

Dancing8
Jennifer and Derek were up next with the Fox Trot to the theme from "Married with Children" which was "Love and Marriage".  Derek got really frustrated with Jennifer in rehearsal, and she got a little oversensitive and took a walk for a while.  They worked things out though.  She pretended to be the perfect 50's housewife and it was a very cute dance!  They were both so light on their feet!  I really enjoyed this dance.  Bruno said that it was beautifully danced and it transported him back in time.  Carrie Ann said it wasn't their best dance, but that it was still very good.  Len said that the actual dance was lovely, but that it wasted too much time in the beginning and end being theatrical.

Their Scores: Carrie Ann - 8, Len - 8, and Bruno - 9, for a combined score of 25 out of 30.

Tuesday, Shakira and Jason Derulo will perform.  David Hasselhoff will also make an appearance!  Next week, it's Rock n' Roll week.  The stars will all get to perform two dances!
