A Cool Start But a Warm End to the Week for NYC!

A Very Fall-like beginning to the week with a Summer feel later & dry through Sunday!

Good Morning!

We are looking at one of the quietest stretches of weather in quite some time.

After a weekend of "excitement" it'll be a nice change of pace. This will also

be the first taste of fall-like weather across the region.

Yesterday was a largely dry day across most of the Northeast and Middle

Atlantic, though there were one or two showers that popped up as a result of

the deep trough still over the region. The combined cool air aloft and upper

energy associated with the trough caused the shower activity. The lack of

overall moisture prevented any widespread rainfall from occurring. That being

said there will still be cool air aloft and the trough will be slowly exiting

eastward.

Today will be on the backside of the trough which will mean a more stable

atmosphere overall, but some afternoon clouds will still develop from some

mid-level moisture around 800 mb and slight instability at this level. Also

there will be enough of a pressure gradient from the high building in and the

lower pressure to the east for a noticeable breeze this afternoon.

It will be another cool night tonight, quickly dropping this evening as the

sun sets. Down into the 50s tonight, it'll be the coolest night since early

June.

High pressure will be dead-center over the Northeast tomorrow and Wednesday.

Unless you like clouds, rain, or any type of unsettled weather it will be

difficult to say anything bad about either of these two days (perhaps it'll be

cool to start Tomorrow morning, especially in the Suburbs where some 40-degree

readings are likely).

On Thursday and Friday winds take on a more southerly tack and that will

spread warmer air northward and perhaps a little more humidity on Friday.

On Saturday it will still be a dry day with the high pressure still holding

on, but a storm system centered in the Plains on Friday will move eastward and

a few more clouds could arrive in the afternoon. The storm system itself will pass

by later in the weekend possibly brining our next showers on Monday.

Have a great day!
