Stormy, Then Steamy, Then Stormy, Then......You Get It!

Hot, Humid, Hazy, Stormy,  Highlights Your Weekend NYC Area Weather!

Good Morning,

Warmer and more humid air continues to push across the eastern Great Lakes and central Appalachians early today... The showers and thunderstorms that we've been talking about since Wednesday morning are appearing on the regional radar mosaic... While there were essentially two, seperate areas to follow as of 3 a.m. >> one of them in the Champlain Valley and the Adirondacks and the other in central Pennsylvania, these echoes are sliding to the southeast at a pace of 40-50 mph, and will impact parts of eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and southeastern New York...

Most of the rain will occur during a portion of the morning commute time, with many places getting a shower or thunderstorm between 4 and 10 a.m. --- and areas WEST of Interstate-95 should see their activity end relatively quickly, while areas along the immediate coast will need to wait an additional hour or two for the rain to end... From mid-morning onward, any leftover clouds will break for plenty of sunshine, and this afternoon will be hot and more humid than recent days... Temperatures should reach the mid-90s in most places, although some of the typically hotter spots will be in the upper-90s, and some of the south-facing shores and other coastal locations will be in the upper-80s to around 90... The uptick in the humidity will make it "Feel Like" its in the upper-90s to near 100...

After this morning's warm front "does its dirty work" and brings a few showers, storms and more humid air to the Northeast and the mid-Atlantic states, a poor excuse for a cool front that'll be pressing southeastward should reach the coastal plain by early this evening... This boundary isn't expect to be strong enough to trigger any additional showers or thunderstorms -- in fact, the only thing that it will effectively do is cause a wind shift, and this will cause the dewpoints to lower a bit... Or, in other words, there should be a reduction in the humidity so minimal that it won't be very noticeable... The balance of the night will be warm under a clear to partly cloudy sky...

Another shower and thunderstorm complex is being forecasted by the models to flare up this evening

along the periphery of a very strong ridge of high pressure... That high pressure system will prolong

some recent stifling, triple-digit heat in the Tennessee and Kentucky, just to name a few states...

Assuming these showers and thunderstorms pass by well to the south and west of the Tri-State Area

tonight (most will be impacting areas south of the Mason-Dixon Line, in fact), we'll have to wait until later

tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night to get a few more showers and thunderstorm or two... While we

await those, tomorrow will be another hot day with temperatures in the 90s, and no less than partial

sunshine...

We must keep an eye out for additional complexes of showers and heavier thunderstorms forming to

our north and west Saturday night and Sunday... Timing when these will impact the Eastern Seaboard

from nearly 48 hours away is a very difficult task, but we'll need to address these during the second half

of the upcoming weekend, as well as some more hot and humid weather...

Most temperatures wlll trend lower early next week, but it will probably still be within a few degrees of 90

on Monday with the chance for a couple of showers and a thunderstorm...

Have a good weekend !!!
