After Sunny & 78 This Past Weekend, It's Cloudy, Cooler, & Showers to Start Your Week inthe NYC Area!
Rain chances are good until Wednesday, then warmer into the weekend when it will bein the mid 80s!
Good Morning, After some fabulous weekend weather, we have some cloudy, cooler and wetter weather to talk about in the near term... Early this morning, clouds are covering the entire Tri-State Area, and moisture that is backing in from the Atlantic is causing some rain across the mid-Atlantic region... Most of the rain has been light and spotty since late last evening across southeastern Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and at the Jersey Shore... However, there will be a tendency for this rain to spread northward along the coastal plain as the morning unfolds... Because of the combination of low clouds, occasional rain and a wind flow off of the ocean, temperatures this afternoon should be no higher than the 60s in most places... Rainfall amounts today and early tonight should average nearly half an inch across the region, and no flooding problems are anticipated... The very 'stable environment' being provided by the marine influence today should also limit any potential for thunder to be heard this afternoon or early tonight... However, we simply won't be "out of the woods" after today's rain tapers to showers early tonight... We expect a weak low pressure system to drift out into the Atlantic Ocean tomorrow, but there is still going to be a series of shortwave disturbances, or "impulses of jet stream energy" moving through an upper-level trough that has carved itself out over the eastern third of the country... Therefore, we're still going to be susceptible to picking up a couple of showers and even getting a thunderstorm on a couple of occasions tomorrow and on Wednesday... The only difference between today and these other days is that the sun will probably manage to pop out every now and then tomorrow and on Wednesday... Therefore, we feel that most temperatures will reach the lower and middle-70s... Thursday and Friday should be even warmer, since a ridge of high pressure in the middle of the country will begin to spread its influence into the Eastern Region... We still can't rule out a shower or thunderstorm entirely on Thursday or Friday, although if we had to pick a day when these were the LEAST likely, it would be on Friday... Temperatures should continue climbing later this week, and most of them will be in the lower or middle-80s on Friday and Saturday... "Tropical Storm Alberto" early today is located off the coasts of Georgia and Florida, but it is not a threat to land this week, and it is expected to slowly push out to sea... The worst effects that will be felt along the Southeast Coast involves some rough surf and strong rip currents... Have a good day!!!

What are the chances that the Blue Angels Fly Over above the Hudson River, scheduled for 11 am on Wednesday 5/23, will happen? It is part of Fleet Week which seems to be getting very little coverage so far.
