Bright, Blue, and Cool Through the NYC Area Weekend!
Sunshine and Temps in the 40s! Great Super Bowl Weather on the way! Go Giants!
Good Morning, While certainly not unusual for this time of year, we're waking up to a rather 'brisk and chilly' morning across the Tri-State Area... Clearing took until the nighttime hours to occur, and we're confronted with temperatures that are mostly in the lower-30s early this morning... Also, a west to northwest wind has been fairly active, gusting to as high as 25 or 30 mph since midnight... That wind has 'slackened off' just a bit as of 3 a.m. -- but it is still making it "Feel Like" its in the lower and middle-20s as of this writing... Yes, you'll need to "bundle up" this morning, as if that typically isn't something which is already implied when its early in February... The wind over the past 12-18 hours can be mostly attributed to the difference in pressures between a wave of low pressure currently located out over the Atlantic, and a high pressure system building into the Northeast via the Great Lakes and southeastern Canada... So, there'll be a good deal of sunshine today, as the high pressure system starts to spread out across the region this afternoon and tonight... The breeze will be fairly active this afternoon, with most temperatures in the mid and upper-40s... Dry weather will prevail tonight and tomorrow as this high pressure system takes control of the forthcoming pattern... There's a deepening wave of low pressure out in the Plains early this morning, which is bringing some heavy snowfall to the Denver Metro, as well as some strong thunderstorms in the Panhandle regions of Texas and Oklahoma... That weather system is going to push slowly across the nation's midsection, and it should spread a corridor of rain as far east as the Tennessee Valley by late tonight, and then into the southern Appalachians tomorrow... What we're finding very interesting about some of the recent runs of the various global models, is that the precipitation associated with a warm front pushing into the mid-Atlantic states on Saturday night and early Sunday is trending farther and farther north... We've gone ahead and inserted the mention of a period of rain, or rain that could mix with snow Saturday night and early Sunday in extreme South Jersey, Delaware and in other areas south of the Mason-Dixon Line... But, as far north as the Tri-State Area, we're only anticipating some "cloud cover issues" on Sunday... Looks like sunshine will be dimmed by some high and mid-level clouds, especially on Sunday morning... Temperatures this weekend will be in the mid-40s both days, although Sunday should be just a little cooler than tomorrow... Dry weather will prevail for the start of next week, and the potential rain, or rain/snow mix we had been carrying late Monday and Monday night has been scrubbed... Have a great weekend !!!
