A Chilly Start to What Will Be a Mild Week Once Again!
A few showers this week of rain not snow will make an appearence as winter remains absent!
Good Morning,
Cold air gripped much of the Northeast and the mid-Atlantic states yesterday, with most temperatures only peaking
between 30 and 35 degrees... While this might not "sound all that cold", we've now reached that point in the season where
typical daytime temperatures start climbing by a degree about every three or four days... Therefore, the "normal" high right now
is either in the upper-30s or lower-40s, depending upon your town's exact location... Winds gusted to near 40 mph in some
places during the afternoon, but the leading edge of the colder air mass also kicked up some fairly strong wind gusts as it
reached the Eastern Seaboard late on Saturday night... However, as we've seen on so many occasions this winter, this cold air
is going to begin to retreat rather quickly this afternoon... Although there are some clouds around early today, some sun from
midday onward will allow for most temperatures to return to the 40s this afternoon, except across some interior locales
(especially in northeastern Pennsylvania, the Hudson River Valley in New York State and in northwestern New Jersey)...
There's an impulse of jet stream energy, or a "shortwave disturbance" located in the southern Plains early today... This relatively
weak feature has already managed to tap into some moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, and it is causing some light rain, snow and
sleet across much of Kansas, Oklahoma and northern sections of Texas...
As this system moves across the Deep South, a warm front is going to be pressing northward into the Carolinas tonight and
tomorrow morning... Well to the north of this boundary, despite the presence of a high pressure system, clouds will be
returning to the Eastern Region tonight... Then, considerable clouds tomorrow will be followed by a bit of rain, or rain mixing
with some wet snowflakes... Along the I-95 corridor, this appears to be most likely during the afternoon and evening...
However, it will occur a few hours earlier in areas farther north and west... Most temperatures will be in the low and mid-40s,
except the 30s in many of the higher elevations... The vertical motions north of this warm front appear to be quite weak... So,
most of the precipitation seen across the area should be in the form of light rain or drizzle... Amounts will be under a tenth of an
inch, and could very well wind up just being a couple of hundredths of an inch... Clouds are expected to linger during much of
Wednesday, even though most (if not all) of the time should be precipitation-free... The bulk of Wednesday's precipitation is
expected to occur across upstate New York and in New England, as a wave of low pressure starts to form along a warm front --
aided by a parcel of upper-level energy cascading through the jet stream to our north... Highs on Wednesday should be in the
mid to upper-40s in many of the cooler spots, but around 50 in the larger cities...
A stronger wave of low pressure emerging in the middle of the country on Wednesday morning looks like it will be a feature that
will impact the East later on this week, primarily from later on Thursday into Friday... And, this stronger low pressure system
should bring with a stronger push of mild air -- so we will be addressing the possibility of some rain, mostly later Thursday,
Thursday night and Friday... Late-week temperatures will be mostly in the upper-40s and the lower-50s... This will be followed
by somewhat colder air next weekend, with daytime temperatures no higher than the upper-30s or the lower-40s...
Have a good day !!!

Why does Bill Evans show the 7 day weather report & then stands directly in front of it? We want to see the weather not him!
Stand to the side!!!

This isn't weather related but I've made several e-mails with no results. I want to know why sports has been removed from the ticker that scrolls the screen. It's been gone for 3 weeks now. Could someone please check into this? You all do a great job.....

Why doesn't Bill acknowledge why One World Trade is all in red instead of just saying it is lit up in colors.

I live in Whiting NJ right next to Toms River. The temperature posted is almost always wrong. Especially in the winter. How do you get the readings for Toms River NJ?
