Hi Bill - check out the weather on this date back in 1947 in the NYC area. Another blizzard then too! The '47 blizzard is in the top 3 snow storms in 20th century. Did this one surpass that one?

Only 5 inches of snow here in Warren County New Jersey!
Posted by: Karen | 12/27/2010 at 09:28 AM
Last night during the blizzard we experienced some lightening and thunder. I've never seen that before and can't find any info online as to how or why it happened. Any answers?

Bill,
Camera crews thin I know but intense conditions on the Upper West Side (Riverside Park & approx 72nd-77th Street).
Wind gusts approx 50mph, knee-high snow drifts at points, garbage bags airborne from the wind. Lots of dogs/kids.
Quite a scene.

while it's frustrating getting the streets cleared and everyone is fed up, i would like to commend the city workers and our neighbors who are doing thier best to clear the snow. thank you to my favorite news team for the on-going coverage, i took enough pictures so that my 3 month old will see what she slept through on december 26th, again my thanks to those who are doing what they can to clear the streets. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
