A Great Fall Day Today in NYC!
Chilly weather to end the week.
Good Morning,
The current weather map early this morning is showing the latest wave of low pressure
located near the Virginia / North Carolina border... Unlike yesterday, when the northernmost
extent of light rain grazed the City and most of its adjacent suburbs in the morning, today will be
a dry day in the City --- from start to finish... A bubble of high pressure located to our north will
ensure that, as the distribution of the rain associated with this latest wave occurs well to our
south... The farther south you go, there will be more in the way of cloud cover, and even a few
sprinkles are possible near Atlantic City... Conversely, it looks as if much of Connecticut and the
Hudson Valley will just have sunshine for the most part...
The next 'change coming' will be provided by a cold front... This front will be diving out of the
north and west late tonight and tomorrow... There's going to be some unseasonably chilly air
behind it, which should cause some wet snowflakes to fall (as well as some rain) across
southeastern Canada and in portions of Lower Michigan later tomorrow and tomorrow night...
However, for areas that are located much farther south and east (including eastern
Pennsylvania, southeastern New York and New Jersey), all that will occur tomorrow will be a
couple of widely-separated rain showers... Also, expect the wind to start to pick up... Winds out
of the west and southwest will be increasing to 12-25 mph and then will shift to the northwest
very late tomorrow and tomorrow night behind the front... Most temperatures will be in the
lower and middle-40s at daybreak on Friday...
Friday should turn out mostly sunny, but also noticeably cooler with a brisk wind... Most
temperatures will be in the middle and upper-50s... The winds should die down early on Friday
night, and a ridge of high pressure building into the East Friday night and Saturday should provide
us with a nice start to the weekend... Saturday will be sunny, with a warmer afternoon... Most
temperatures will be in the mid or upper-60s...
Sunday is going to turn out a little different, though... While it'll still be quite mild with
temperatures mostly in the mid and upper-60s, some clouds associated with a warm front
pushing into the mid-Atlantic states and the Northeast may bring with it a couple of showers...
The temperatures over the weekend should average a good 3-5 degrees above the seasonal
averages (after a much chillier day on Friday), and most temperatures early next week should be
in the mid and upper-60s, with some additional chances for getting a shower every now and
then... Have a good day !!!
